Japan: TOTO, announced that its semiconductor ceramics business has become the company’s largest profit contributor, surpassing its core housing-equipment segment. For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, the advanced ceramics division generated USD 182 million in operating profit, accounting for more than half of the company’s record USD 339 million group operating profit, while maintaining an operating margin of approximately 43% compared with about 4% for the housing-equipment business, which contributes around 91% of revenue. Driven by rising demand from AI-related semiconductor manufacturing, TOTO plans to invest approximately USD 190 million in semiconductor-related capital expenditure and research through fiscal year 2028. The company is also constructing a new kiln building at its Buzen, Fukuoka plant, scheduled for completion in January 2027, which will increase electrostatic chuck production capacity by more than 20%.
