Saudi Arabia to Replace 250,000 Window ACs in 2025
Saudi Arabia: The National Center for Waste Management (MWAN), in collaboration with the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center, has launched the third phase of the Replace initiative. This program aims to enhance energy efficiency by replacing 250,000 old window air conditioners that do not meet environmental standards and recycling them into reusable materials. The initiative runs through the end of December next year and expands the program to all regions of the Kingdom.
The first two phases of the Replace initiative resulted in the recycling of 88,000 air conditioners, reducing waste and transforming it into raw materials, contributing to sustainable development and environmental preservation.
MWAN oversees the program in cooperation with the private sector, ensuring the continuity and maximization of its positive impact. By regulating the waste sector and supervising recycling operations, MWAN supports the development of a sustainable economy and promotes the efficient use of natural resources.
This initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia's adoption of the circular economy and efforts to transform environmental challenges into economic opportunities. MWAN has emphasized building partnerships with the private sector to ensure long-term environmental, economic, and societal benefits.
