SOUTH KOREA: Samsung Electronics is relocating production of its eco-friendly heating system heat pump boilers to South Korea, becoming the first heat pump manufacturer to participate in the government’s heating electrification programme aimed at encouraging the reshoring of overseas production.
The company began trial production at a newly established 2,132-square-metre production line at the second campus of its Gwangju plant. Mass production is scheduled to begin by the end of September, following inspections of manufacturing processes and equipment, as well as comprehensive product performance and quality assessments.
The new production line will have an annual capacity of more than 100,000 EHS heat pump boilers, with the entire output intended for the South Korean market. The move is expected to strengthen Samsung’s domestic manufacturing capabilities while supporting the country’s transition towards electrified heating systems.
