Europe: Panasonic Group has published its 2026 Sustainability Data Book, outlining progress in reducing carbon dioxide emissions across its operations and its heating and cooling activities in Europe. The company reported that, as of 2025, 45 factories worldwide had achieved net zero carbon dioxide emissions, exceeding its earlier target of 37 sites. These results were attributed to energy efficiency measures, increased use of renewable energy and energy management systems. The group stated that it plans to achieve net zero carbon dioxide emissions at all factories by 2030, including the recently opened Aquarea heat pump facility in Pilsen, Czech Republic.
The company also reported avoided emissions linked to the use of its products. Air-to-water heat pumps and domestic hot water systems were reported to produce up to 65 percent less carbon dioxide than gas boilers. In 2025, Panasonic estimated that its product portfolio contributed to 53.25 million tonnes of avoided carbon dioxide emissions, above its stated target for the year. The data has been independently assured by LRQA, and the group continues to be included in several environmental, social and governance indices.
