Nearly £60 Million in UK Heat Pump Funding Remains Unused
UK: Despite earmarking £150 million yearly from 2022 to 2025 to replace fossil fuel boilers with heat pumps, the government has faced criticism because more than £60 million has yet to be spent. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) assists homeowners and small companies in England and Wales in switching to greener heating systems by providing payments of up to £7,500 for the installation of heat pumps or biomass boilers.
The plan, which provides incentives to homes that replace fossil fuel boilers with heat pumps, was budgeted for £150 million per year from 2022 to 2025.
