Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Partners with Empower to Supply Centrifugal Chillers for Dubai's District Cooling Plants
UAE: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems, Ltd. (MHI Thermal Systems) has signed a new agreement with Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest district cooling provider, to supply 18 large-scale centrifugal chillers for Empower’s cooling plants in Dubai, UAE. Under this agreement, MHI Thermal Systems will supply 18 advanced chillers, which will be ready for delivery from the beginning of 2025, with an aggregate cooling capacity of 56,250 refrigeration tons (RT). Empower will utilize these chillers in three district cooling system plants, providing chilled water for cooling purposes to residential, commercial, healthcare, educational, and multi-use projects. The agreement also includes a provision allowing Empower to increase the order up to 31 December 2024, potentially increasing the total capacity to 100,000 RT. This deal builds on a 2021 order, reflecting Empower’s confidence in MHI’s efficiency, environmental performance, and after-sales service. The partnership aligns with Dubai’s sustainability goals to reduce carbon emissions and achieve up to 50% energy savings by 2050.
