Italy: Italian manufacturer Megius Group has acquired Albatros Wellness through its subsidiary La Doccia Srl. Albatros, established in 1982 by former Jacuzzi employees, specialises in wellness products such as bathtubs, mini-pools, and outdoor spas. This acquisition broadens Megius’s existing portfolio of showers, saunas, and hammams by incorporating Albatros's horizontal wellness offerings. The deal also includes the acquisition of Revita, a manufacturer of shower screens. Megius, which has been active in the wellness sector for nearly five decades, aims to enhance its market presence through this expansion.
Albatros, previously operating under Domino S.p.A., had reached a turnover of nearly EUR 35 million during its peak, supported by over 100 employees at its Spilimbergo facility. However, the 2008 financial crisis led to a decline in the hydromassage segment, resulting in bankruptcy in 2014 and subsequent acquisitions in 2015 and 2018. Despite these challenges, Albatros remains a recognised name in Italy’s wellness sector, particularly in the contract and yachting markets, with a focus on design and domestic manufacturing.
