Lixil Targets 15-20% of India's Ceramics Market in 2-3 Years
India: Lixil Corp., the parent company of Grohe, sees India becoming its third-largest market globally within the next 10 years, according to Bijoy Mohan, Lixil's CEO for Asia Pacific. Currently, India is one of the smallest markets for Lixil, which holds a 2-3% volume share in the country. However, the company aims to capture 15-20% of India's ceramics market within the next 2-3 years, making it Lixil's second-largest market outside of Japan, after China.
Lixil recently started commercial production at its first Indian factory, located in Andhra Pradesh, following the acquisition of Sentini Sanitarywares Pvt Ltd. The company plans to invest around ₹400 crore in the factory in phases, with an initial investment of 18 million USD. Most of Lixil's sales in India currently come from its German subsidiary, Grohe.
