Jordan Launches Solar Subsidy Program with 30% Support to Ease Household Energy Costs

JORDAN: Agreements with the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF) will provide a 30% subsidy for solar energy systems under a program aimed at supporting the residential sector across Jordan.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Al-Kharabsheh highlighted that these agreements are part of the ministry’s broader efforts to reduce household electricity costs and increase reliance on local energy sources. The program aligns with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision, which focuses on advancing renewable energy solutions and enhancing energy efficiency.
Al-Kharabsheh also mentioned that the ministry is developing new programs to offer greater support to low-income households. The current phase targets the installation of 4,000 solar energy systems and 5,000 solar water heaters by the end of 2024.
He assured that subsidies would be distributed fairly across all regions, recognizing the important role of charitable associations in implementing the program. Additionally, he encouraged eligible associations to participate.
JREEEF’s Executive Director, Rasmi Hamzeh, emphasized the program’s direct economic benefits for citizens. He underscored the importance of associations adhering to program guidelines and effectively promoting the initiative. Hamzeh clarified that the subsidies are direct grants from the Ministry of Energy and stressed the need for transparent communication about the program’s support. In related developments, Kazakhstan and Jordan are working to strengthen mutual trade ties.
