Industry urges EU to publish heat pump Plan

The European Commission is being urged to release its Heat Pump Action Plan as soon as possible by a coalition of 19 energy industry organisations, which includes the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA).

In a letter to Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, the group—which consists of trade organisations, non-governmental organisations, consumer advocacy organisations, and think tanks—warns that the energy transition in heating could be jeopardised by the “flawed” decision to delay the heat pump action plan.

The Commission said in December that it would not release the Heat Pump Action Plan until after the EU elections in June. The plan outlined how the Commission intended to fulfil its commitment to install 10 million more heat pumps by 2027.
