Indonesia Eases Import Restrictions on Air Conditioners and Electronics to Clear Port Backlogs
Indonesia: Indonesia has eased its import regulations for electronic products, footwear, and textiles to swiftly clear the backlog of goods accumulated at ports.
In March, Jakarta had tightened import rules for over 3,000 items, requiring importers to obtain permits and recommendations to protect domestic industries from an influx of foreign products.
Additionally, in April, the government introduced further restrictions on importing electronic goods, including air conditioners and refrigerators. To address the pileup of containers at ports, the government has decided to revert to previous import rules, effective immediately.
