India: Hansgrohe has announced plans to significantly increase its production in India, aiming to quadruple output at its Mumbai facility from 50,000 to 200,000 bathroom fitting pieces annually by 2028. The company is positioning India as a key growth market, targeting affluent consumers amid rapid urbanisation and rising disposable incomes. It expects India to contribute 10% of global sales by 2030, double its current share. While the Mumbai plant currently assembles products largely for institutional sales, premium ranges continue to be imported from Germany. The firm is also exploring local sourcing for components used in shower ranges and other fittings.

The move follows a slowdown in China’s construction sector and consumer spending, prompting the company to shift focus to India’s growing luxury bathroom products market, which is projected to expand by 7.7% to reach 16.7 billion USD over the next five years. Rising wealth is expected to drive demand for premium items such as jacuzzi bathtubs, advanced showers, and high-end smart toilets. Hansgrohe India Pvt Ltd, which reported revenues of 38.7 million USD last year and has grown at over 25% annually since 2020, plans to expand its distributor network from 300 to 400 by 2026 and launch its first experience centre in New Delhi, offering live demonstrations of its products.
