GRIG Strengthens Its Presence in Spain with the Acquisition of Airlan
Spain: The Giordano Riello International Group (GRIG), the parent company of Aermec, has acquired the Spanish air conditioning firms Airlan SA and Airlan Industrial SA.
Airlan, established in 1989 and headquartered in Bilbao, serves as a distributor for Aermec products in Spain. This year, the combined turnover of the two companies is projected to surpass €65 million. Airlan operates through six offices located in Barcelona, La Coruña, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Seville, and Tenerife, with additional presence in Peru and the Dominican Republic via two subsidiaries. The company employs over 120 people.
“Our collaboration with Airlan has deep roots, dating back to over twenty years of partnership in the distribution of our products in Spain,” said Aermec president Alessandro Riello.
“With this acquisition, we strengthen our direct presence on the Spanish market, enriching our network of international distribution subsidiaries and already active in the UK, France, Germany, Poland and the Americas, alongside the historic, consolidated and widespread presence on the market of our country. This step demonstrates our desire for growth and our commitment to consolidating the Group’s leadership in the air conditioning sector, both in Italy and worldwide,” he added.
Founded in 1922, Riello produced its first air conditioner in 1961 and launched the Aermec brand in 1963. GRIG's turnover is expected to exceed €600 million this year.
