Germany to Reduce Heat Pump Subsidies by US$2.4 Billion by 2030

GERMANY: Germany plans to scale back financial support for low-carbon heat pumps, reducing subsidy spending by approximately US$2.4 billion by the end of the decade as part of broader efforts to ease budget pressures while increasing investment in defence and security. According to a draft proposal from the Energy Ministry, funding for renewable heating systems will be gradually reduced by lowering the maximum eligible subsidy amount. The initial funding cap will be cut by around US$2,290 (from €2,000), followed by additional reductions of approximately US$860 (from €750) every six months, subject to parliamentary approval.
