German Heat Pump Sales Down 52%
Germany: The sales of heat pumps in Germany experienced a 52% decrease during the initial quarter of the year, as reported by the German Heating Industry Association BDH in recent data. There were 46,000 total unit transactions, as opposed to 96,500 heat pumps sold during the same period in 2023. The failure to achieve the federal government's sales target of 500,000 heat pumps this year is considered a significant setback. The BDH forecasts that less than two hundred thousand heat pumps will be sold this year, based on current sales. The decrease in heat pump sales occurs in the context of a broader contraction in the German heating market, which experienced a 29% decline in total sales during the first quarter.
