Europe Sources Air Conditioners from Algeria as Condor Secures 250,000-Unit Export Order

ALGERIA: Algeria is accelerating efforts to diversify its economy beyond hydrocarbons, with domestic manufacturers gaining traction in European markets. Condor Electronics, the country’s largest appliance manufacturer, has secured orders for 250,000 air conditioners from European buyers, highlighting the growing competitiveness of North African manufacturers in Europe’s consumer appliance supply chain. The milestone was underscored during a visit by Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion to Condor’s manufacturing facilities, where the company showcased its expanding production capabilities and export ambitions. 

The export initiative is spearheaded by Condor Electronics, the flagship enterprise of the Benhamadi family, one of Algeria’s most influential business groups. Originally established as a domestic appliance manufacturer, the company has grown into one of North Africa’s leading electronics producers, with a diversified portfolio that includes televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners serving both regional and international markets.
