Egypt Advances Structural Reforms and Economic Transformation Programme to Boost Private Sector Growth

Egypt: Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Ahmed Rostom, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to structural reforms under the State Ownership Policy Document and government IPO programme, expanding long-term financing, diversifying funding sources and broadening the tax base digitally. Despite slower global growth and regional geopolitical tensions, the economy recorded 5.1% growth in fiscal year 2025/2026, with positive indicators continuing into the current fiscal year. The National Economic Transformation Programme aims to shift the economy from consumption towards production, exports and investment, while supporting entrepreneurship, start-ups and high-growth businesses. The government is also coordinating with the Ministry of Finance, Central Bank of Egypt and other ministries, alongside developing commercial arbitration frameworks to improve the investment climate and protect investors’ rights, following discussions with international financial institutions and credit rating agencies.
