Egis Introduces an Innovative District Heating System in Germany
GERMANY: Egis, the citizen energy cooperative, has formally launched the district heating system in Bundorf, a municipality situated in the Bavarian area. The operational system is a component of a broader endeavour that encompasses a 125-megawatt photovoltaic power plant and pre-existing electric car charging stations. The new district heating supply, which includes a heating centre with two huge air heat pumps, a biomass boiler, a hot water storage tank, and a 1,600-meter-long district heating pipeline network, has been under construction since last year, in parallel with the solar park. Egis, in partnership with Maxsolar, successfully launched the photovoltaic power plant in September. The district heating system, which has been undergoing trial operation since the end of 2023, is now completely operational after the integration of the air heat pumps.
