Daikin to Expand Its Indian Business Model into Africa

Japan: Daikin Industries are leveraging their operations in India to expand into the African market. Speaking at the Japan-India-Africa Business Forum in Tokyo, Kanwal Jeet Jawa, Regional General Manager for Daikin, stated, "The products developed in India are compatible with African markets as Africa has similar climate conditions and market environments [to India]." Daikin, which has been in India since 2000, plans to use its experience in tackling challenges such as electricity shortages and infrastructure gaps to grow in markets like Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa. The company already operates an assembly facility in Nigeria, a sales office in Egypt, and training programs in Kenya and Tanzania. Japan External Trade Organization's Executive Vice President Kazuya Nakajo noted that "labor costs in Africa are higher than in India," making it more feasible to manufacture in India and export to Africa.
