Daikin Applied to Acquire DDC Solutions to Strengthen Data Centre Cooling Offerings

USA: Daikin Applied has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire DDC Solutions, a company based in San Diego that develops high-density cooling cabinets and management software for data centres. The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976. The deal is expected to be finalised by the end of the month.

The acquisition aims to enhance Daikin Applied’s portfolio of data centre cooling solutions by incorporating in-room and rack-level systems designed for white space environments. DDC Solutions offers a patented hybrid cooling system that combines air and liquid cooling within data centre racks. This system is designed to improve operational efficiency by containing heat removal within the racks, potentially avoiding the need for additional infrastructure changes. The cabinets also include fire and water protection features and reduce noise levels within the facility. Additionally, the integrated software enables real-time monitoring and automated cooling adjustments for each cabinet.
