Croatia Introduces Subsidies for Solar Systems and Heat Pumps

Croatia will begin offering subsidies for photovoltaic systems, battery storage and heat pumps in single-family homes from 2 September 2026, with a total allocation of EUR 36 million (USD 39 million). The programme, administered by the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, is open to individual homeowners who are registered occupants of the property. Applications must be submitted through the national authentication system, with eligibility limited to costs incurred after the programme announcement in July 2026, while certain advance payments made from January 2026 may also be considered.
Under the scheme, homeowners can receive up to 50% of installation costs for solar systems, capped at EUR 12,000 (USD 13,100) per project, while energy-poor households may receive up to 70%. Battery storage is eligible for support of up to EUR 11,200 (USD 12,200), subject to similar co-financing limits and only when installed alongside a new photovoltaic system. The initiative aims to expand residential adoption of renewable energy and related technologies.
