USA: Construction employment in the United States increased by 26,000 jobs in March 2026, indicating a monthly rebound despite ongoing economic challenges such as higher fuel prices and borrowing costs. Non-residential construction led the growth, adding 12,200 jobs, including gains in non-residential building (4,500), specialty trades (3,900), and heavy and civil engineering (3,800). Overall industry employment has risen by 57,000 jobs year on year, a 0.7% increase, reflecting steady expansion. The construction unemployment rate stood at 6.7%, while the national unemployment rate was 4.3%. Although job growth has improved compared with 2025, rising oil and diesel prices alongside higher treasury yields continue to create uncertainty for future industry momentum.
