JAPAN: Japan’s consumer electronics retail sector is attracting renewed investor attention as industry consolidation and anticipated air conditioner demand support growth prospects. The proposed business integration between Yamada Holdings and Edion is expected to create the country’s largest electronics retailer and could trigger further industry realignment. Meanwhile, Nojima has strengthened its market position through the acquisition of Hitachi’s home appliances business, aiming to expand its portfolio of exclusive products.
Retailers are also expected to benefit from rising air conditioner sales ahead of stricter energy-efficiency regulations set to take effect in April 2027.
