Bangladesh Customs Seizes Substandard Chinese Refrigerants
Bangladesh: Customs officials at the port of Chittagong have intercepted Chinese shipments of substandard refrigerants valued at up to EUR 40 million (USD 42.8 million). Numerous importers reportedly received these shipments by providing false declarations.
The 10 shipments involved a total of 62,000 cylinders of refrigerant gas, which were found to be of extremely low quality and manufactured by a fraudulent company.
The cylinders were labelled as containing various gases, including R22, R134A, R404A, R407A, and R32, but the import documents, packaging list, and bill of entry did not explicitly mention the gas names.
