Autech Carrier Begins Mass Production of Residential Heat Pump Boilers

South Korea: Autech Carrier announced on 2 July that it has started mass production of residential heat pump boilers at its manufacturing facility in Gwangju, South Korea. The new air-to-water heat pump system combines floor heating and domestic hot water supply within a single unit by extracting heat from outdoor air using electricity rather than burning gas or oil. The system can provide hot water at temperatures of up to 65°C, making it suitable for household heating and hot water applications.

According to the company, the heat pump boiler can reduce energy costs by up to approximately 65% compared with gas boilers offering similar heating performance. Heat pump technology transfers heat from the surrounding environment rather than generating it directly, resulting in higher energy efficiency and lower carbon emissions during operation. The company stated that the product builds on its earlier development of inverter hybrid boilers, first introduced in 2011 and commercialised in 2014.

With mass production now underway, Autech Carrier plans to expand the supply of heat pump boilers within the residential heating market. The company also noted its previous participation in Korea Electric Power Corporation's (KEPCO) thermal storage heat pump boiler distribution programme, which supported the adoption of heat pump technology in South Korea.
