Australia to Miss Target of 1.2 Million New Homes by 2029, According to State of the Housing System Report
According to an independent analysis, if current trends continue, Australia would fall short of its goal of building 1.2 million new dwellings by 2029. The National Housing Supply and Affordability Council presented its State of the Housing System report to the federal government today. The council cautioned that unless the government keeps all of its housing promises, conditions in the housing sector will worsen in the next years.
The National Housing Supply and Affordability Council characterised Australia's housing market as inequitable, unaffordable, and undersupplied. Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz, council chair, stated that Australia's housing sector was far from healthy.
