Albania Sees Decline in Building Permits Despite Increase in Project Value
Albania: Albanian authorities issued 354 building permits in the third quarter of 2024, representing a 1.9% decline compared to the same period in 2023. Of these, 266 permits were granted for the construction of residential buildings. The total area covered by the approved projects reached 814,340 square metres, marking a significant increase of 78.9% compared to the previous year.
The estimated value of the approved construction projects rose to 33.3 billion leks (USD 353.1 million/EUR 335.4 million) during the third quarter of 2024, up from 18.9 billion leks in the same period in 2023. The majority of permits were issued in the capital, Tirana, with 134 permits, followed by 84 permits in the coastal city of Durres.
