India: Air conditioner prices in India are expected to rise further in the coming months due to higher raw material costs and revised energy efficiency standards introduced in January 2026. Industry representatives stated that costs across the sector have increased by around 14% to 16%, driven by higher prices of copper, aluminium and steel, along with changes in energy rating requirements. Older models manufactured under previous efficiency standards continued to be sold during the early months of 2026, but newer products complying with updated norms are expected to raise overall market prices.
Industry participants indicated that inflationary pressures may continue over the next 12 to 18 months as manufacturers adjust supply chains and production costs. The discussion also highlighted the growing connection between the real estate and financial sectors, with industry representatives noting that rising institutional investment and regulatory developments are contributing to activity in India’s property market. The real estate sector currently contributes around 7% to 8% of India’s GDP and is projected to increase its share by 2030.
