World Bank Revises Growth Outlook

MENAAP: The World Bank revises its growth forecast for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (MENAAP) region in 2025, while trimming its outlook for the following year due to global economic challenges and political instability, Reuters reported. The bank now expects regional GDP growth to average 2.8% in 2025, up from the 2.6% forecast in its April outlook, supported by increased economic activity in Gulf states following a faster-than-expected easing of oil production cuts and growth in the non-oil sector. However, developing oil exporters are anticipated to face a significant slowdown due to conflict disruptions and downward revisions in oil production. Iran’s economy is projected to contract 1.7% this year and shrink 2.8% in 2026, a sharp reversal from the 0.7% expansion forecast in April.
