Wickes to Reopen Four Former Homebase Locations This Year

UK: Wickes has acquired the leases of four ex-Homebase stores in Dunfermline, Bury St Edmunds, and Leeds Moor Allerton, set to reopen later this year. All 55 employees will remain employed. The stores will cease trading as Homebase on 3 March and undergo refitting to align with Wickes' modern format.
This follows Wickes’ acquisition of a Northampton unit last July, currently under refurbishment. CEO David Wood emphasized the expansion as part of the company’s growth strategy.
Wickes and Homebase are UK-based home improvement and DIY retailers. Wickes focuses on trade professionals and homeowners, while Homebase offers a mix of DIY, garden, and home products. Following Homebase’s collapse, B&Q acquired eight stores for £5.7m ($7.2 million approximately), while new owner CDS Superstores is rebranding up to 70 locations.
