Wickes Plans Redundancies Amid Cost-Saving Measures
UK: DIY retailer Wickes has announced plans to cut 200 kitchen and bathroom advisor roles, putting 500 staff into consultation. Despite these redundancies, Wickes intends to increase the number of kitchen and bathroom design consultants, offering alternative roles within the company to affected staff. The planned reduction aims to "streamline customers’ journeys" by reducing touchpoints in the purchase process and will not affect the number of stores offering kitchen and bathroom design and installation services. These changes are part of cost-saving measures within its Design & Installation business to offset lower sales volumes, as highlighted in Wickes' latest trading results, which reported an 18.2% decline in sales of bigger ticket items.
