UK: Moores Furniture Group, a furniture manufacturer based in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, has entered administration, citing difficult trading conditions. The company, founded in 1947, supplied kitchens to housebuilders, public sector clients and affordable housing developers, and employed more than 450 people. Joint administrators from Interpath have confirmed the sale of the company’s customer list and certain intellectual property assets to Wren Trade Kitchens Limited, a subsidiary of Wren Kitchens Ltd.
Following the appointment of administrators, around 336 employees have been retained to support the completion of ongoing work, while 124 staff have been made redundant. The administrators stated that support will be provided to affected employees, including guidance on claims through the Redundancy Payments Service. They noted that the company faced pressures from higher costs and reduced levels of housebuilding activity, and that efforts to secure further investment or a sale of the business were unsuccessful.
