INDIA: Voltas expects double-digit revenue growth in its room air conditioner business this summer, driven largely by first-time buyers, who account for about 85% of purchases. AC ownership in India remains low at around 10% of households, compared with much higher penetration in China and Thailand, leaving significant room for growth as heat waves persist.
The outlook marks a recovery from a weak April–June 2025 quarter, when unseasonal rains and milder temperatures cut Voltas’ AC revenues by 25%. Despite recent tax cuts, AC prices may rise due to stricter energy-efficiency rules and higher copper and silver costs, with further increases possible if commodity inflation continues. Voltas, holding roughly 18% market share, also plans to expand exports as AC adoption grows in Europe.
