BULGARIA: German ceramic products manufacturer Villeroy & Boch has implemented Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) technology at its fittings facility in Sevlievo, operated by its Bulgarian subsidiary Ideal Standard-Vidima. According to a recent statement by Ideal Standard-Vidima, the initiative supports the company’s strategy to strengthen its faucets and showers segment. The company has not disclosed the specific amount invested in the PVD installation.
PVD coating enhances product durability, offering resistance to scratches and corrosion, making it ideal for bathroom fixtures used regularly. In May, Villeroy & Boch announced a total investment of €6.5 million ($7.53 million) during Q1 2025, primarily directed toward upgrading manufacturing processes across its sites in Germany, Egypt, Bulgaria, and Thailand. The company completed the acquisition of Belgium-based Ideal Standard, including its Sevlievo plant, in September 2023.
