INDIA: Kohler’s India export plans face uncertainty as proposed 25% US tariffs on Indian electronics, including its products, threaten to disrupt shipments to one of its key markets. The tariffs, delayed by two weeks under Section 232 review, give India and the US a short negotiation window to avoid implementation. Over the past five years, Kohler has invested US$35.7 million in India and committed an additional US$ 91.5 million over the next three fiscals, reflecting confidence in India, its fastest-growing and top-three global market.
While the tariff challenge mirrors issues faced by exporters like Apple, Kohler remains hopeful for a resolution that protects its India export plans. The company also navigates supply chain pressures from China’s restrictions on critical components and skilled labor. Ongoing bilateral talks aim to balance geopolitical considerations with economic priorities, as India works to safeguard manufacturing growth and sustain its role in global supply chains.
