US: In a significant victory for the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and housing affordability, the Senate has approved a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to block the Biden administration’s Final Rule issued by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) on Standards for Gas-Fired Instantaneous Water Heaters. The resolution, which had earlier passed the House with bipartisan support, will be signed into law by President Trump. NAHB warned that the DOE’s proposed standards would increase costs for homeowners and builders, particularly impacting remodeling and replacement in older homes, and limit consumer choice by pushing for a transition to more expensive condensing gas water heaters.
