Unemployment in Australia Increases as More Workers Transition Between Jobs
Australia: Australian unemployment rose higher than predicted as a larger-than-usual cohort of individuals found themselves between jobs, clouding the signal from labour market data.
The unemployment rate rose to 4.1% in April from an upwardly revised 3.9% a month earlier, according to official data released Thursday. The economy added 38,500 jobs, primarily through part-time work, compared to a forecast of 23,700.
