UK Heat Pump Installations Cross 250,000 Mark as Demand Soars
UK: The UK has achieved a significant milestone in the adoption of small-scale renewable energy, with 250,000 certified heat pump installations, according to the latest data from the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). This figure underscores the growing momentum in the transition to cleaner heating solutions. From January to July 2024, over 30,000 certified heat pumps were installed across homes and small businesses in the UK, marking a 45% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This puts 2024 on track to be a record-breaking year for heat pump installations. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) continues to play a crucial role in making heat pumps more accessible and affordable. Government data reveals that BUS applications surged by 73% from January to June 2024 compared to the first half of 2023, with 14,554 applications submitted in this period. This reflects a growing consumer interest in taking advantage of the GBP 7,500 (USD 9,766) incentive provided for MCS-certified heat pump installations.
