UK Government Announces EUR 142 Million Support Package for Ceramics Sector

UK: The UK Government has announced a EUR 142 million support package for the ceramics sector as part of wider measures aimed at supporting industrial resilience and manufacturing. The funding will support capital investment in energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects, while also providing operational assistance for eligible manufacturers facing increased costs. The scheme will be open to UK ceramics manufacturers across subsectors including refractory products, clay building materials, household ceramics and technical ceramics, with applications expected to open in the summer following completion of the final scheme design.

The Government stated that the support is intended to help modernise the sector and maintain manufacturing activity in regions including Stoke-on-Trent and Devon. Ministers also called on ceramics producers to engage with the Trade Remedies Authority regarding existing or potential trade measures. CEO of Ceramics UK Rob Flello said: “Ceramics UK is delighted by this landmark decision by the Government which recognises the fundamental role of our sector in the UK economy.” He added that the organisation would work with Ministers and civil servants on the implementation of the measures outlined in the Government’s plans for the industry.
