Trane and Garrett Motion Join Forces for Ultra Efficient Commercial HVAC Solutions

SWITZERLAND: Trane Technologies and Garrett Motion have announced a strategic collaboration to advance next-generation, oil-free centrifugal compressor technology for commercial HVAC applications. The partnership combines Trane’s system-level expertise with Garrett’s high-speed, oil-free compressor technology, which has already demonstrated significant energy-efficiency gains in testing.
The companies will jointly develop and integrate advanced compressors across Trane’s portfolio, including rooftop units and modular and large-capacity chillers, while supporting the adoption of ultra-low global warming potential refrigerants. Field testing and production are set to begin in 2026, accelerating innovation in high-efficiency, lower-carbon HVAC systems worldwide.
