Thai Firms Partner to Reuse Eggshell Waste in Sanitaryware Production

Thailand: Thai firm Siam Sanitary Ware Co., Ltd., operating under the COTTO brand, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited to explore the reuse of eggshell waste from food production in the manufacture of sanitaryware. Under the agreement, eggshell byproducts from CPF hatchery operations in Saraburi Province will be supplied to COTTO for use as an alternative raw material in ceramic glaze production. The initiative seeks to apply circular economy principles by redirecting biological waste into industrial use.

According to the companies, the project aims to reduce the use of natural raw materials and limit waste sent to landfill by integrating eggshells into existing manufacturing processes. COTTO has submitted a patent application covering the use of eggshell material in ceramic glaze, which remains under review. The collaboration forms part of broader efforts by both parties to reduce emissions associated with production activities and to support waste-to-value practices within Thailand’s industrial supply chains.
