India: Somany Ceramics Ltd., one of India’s most respected building materials brands, has acquired a majority stake in Delhi-based Durabuild, marking its strategic entry into the fast-growing construction chemicals sector. Founded in 1998 by the late Dr. Dhananjoy Ghanti and currently led by Mr. Rudrabir Ghanti, Durabuild has over 200 SKUs in waterproofing systems, concrete admixtures, tile adhesives, protective coatings, grouts, sealants, and repair mortars. With a manufacturing base in Bahadurgarh and a strong North India presence, the company serves major institutional clients and brings over two decades of R&D-driven innovation.
The acquisition aligns with Somany’s strategy to become a total building solutions provider, with Durabuild now operating under the flagship ‘Somany’ brand as part of its Home and Building Solutions vertical. India’s waterproofing segment is valued at USD 1.2 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 2.0 billion by 2030, while cement admixtures are expected to grow to USD 1.9 billion by 2033.
