Shree Refrigerations Teams Up with Smardt to Introduce Oil-Free Chillers for Indian Data Centres

India: Shree Refrigerations Limited, an Indian engineering company specializing in HVAC&R solutions, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Smardt Chillers Pte Ltd through its subsidiary Trezor Technologies Pvt. Ltd. to introduce advanced oil-free, magnetic bearing chiller technology for India’s fast-growing data centre market. The collaboration marks a major diversification step for SRL beyond defence, with expectations that the new data centre cooling vertical will contribute 10–15% of revenues in the next three years.
Smardt, headquartered in Montreal, Canada, is a global leader in oil-free chillers with 10,000+ installations worldwide, offering systems that are 20–50% more energy-efficient than conventional models and deliver the industry’s lowest Power Utilization Efficiency (PUE). SRL has already installed 40+ magnetic bearing chillers in India, and this partnership will strengthen its role in energy-efficient data centre cooling. Both companies aim to support India’s digital infrastructure growth and sustainability goals by providing reliable, future-ready cooling solutions.
