UK: Screwfix has announced plans to open up to 35 new stores across the UK and Ireland by the end of January 2026, generating over 400 jobs in local communities. This expansion is driven by its new store format, Screwfix City, which offers tradespeople greater convenience in high-footfall areas. In FY24 (Feb 1, 2024 – Jan 31, 2025), the company opened seven City stores, with plans for these to make up most new openings in FY25. Customers can access over 3,000 essential products through Click and Collect, with an additional 48,000 available online for next-day collection. Screwfix Sprint, the rapid delivery service ensuring product delivery within 60 minutes, is now available from 485 locations, covering 58% of the UK population.
Screwfix continues its commitment to sustainability, reporting a 50% reduction in direct carbon emissions since 2021/22, even as it expanded from 790 to over 900 stores. This progress is largely due to replacing fossil fuel heating with air-source heat pumps, now installed in more than 75% of stores, and ensuring all new stores use efficient electric heating. Additionally, 95% of the company’s store network is powered by renewable electricity. Through The Screwfix Foundation, the retailer has supported local communities by donating over £15 million (USD 19.35 million) to more than 3,000 charities and non-profit organizations since 2013, helping improve and maintain essential facilities for those in need.
