INDIA: India’s home improvement market is undergoing a shift as digitally native brands increasingly challenge traditional players by rethinking both product offerings and distribution models. Bathware brand Ruhe is among the companies pursuing this approach, combining e-commerce, technology, and an inventory-light distribution model to support its dealer network.

Instead of relying on the conventional distributor-led model, Ruhe has developed a digital-first ecosystem that allows retailers to access products on demand through a network of warehouses. The company believes this model can improve inventory efficiency, dealer profitability, product availability, and the overall customer experience. As part of its expansion strategy, Ruhe plans to significantly strengthen its offline presence over the next three to four years by building a network of around 5,000 dealer stores across India, while continuing to expand its warehouse infrastructure.

Rather than establishing exclusive outlets, the company intends to work through independent retailers, using technology, faster fulfilment, and inventory optimisation to support their operations. Ruhe expects this strategy, together with expansion into new product categories and broader retail coverage, to drive annual revenues of approximately Rs 400–500 crore over the next three to four years. Increased investment in logistics and distribution infrastructure is expected to support the company’s expansion and improve product availability across its growing retail network.
