Germany: Reversible mini splits account for over 25% of the applications in Germany's federal funding for efficient buildings (BEG), according to the latest subsidy statistics. Despite traditionally being a niche product in the German market, due to the predominance of water-based heating systems, these heat pumps are gaining traction. Previously underrepresented in heating market statistics and absent from many German heating brands' portfolios, reversible mini splits have seen a sharp increase in adoption. As of July 2024, they represent 26.8% of total applications for heating system funding, indicating a growing shift in the market. However, it is noted that several units may be needed to fully heat a single-family home or individual apartments in multi-unit buildings.
