Poland: Poland’s Gaz-System and the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine have agreed to a phased boost in gas import capacity from Poland to Ukraine starting February 2026, with daily capacity set to rise from 15.3 million cubic metres to 18.4 million cubic metres by the end of April, according to Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal as reported by European Pravda. Shmyhal said the agreement is crucial for ensuring stable heating supplies to Ukrainian homes, hospitals, schools and critical infrastructure, adding that the move is part of broader efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s energy security and diversify gas supply routes. He noted that the Polish route remains a key import channel, providing access to multiple gas sources. In 2025, Ukraine imported 2.1 billion cubic metres of gas via Poland, accounting for over 30 percent of total imports, including around 600 million cubic metres of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the US, and he thanked Polish partners for their continued support and cooperation in enhancing Ukraine’s energy resilience.
