NORTH MACEDONIA: North Macedonia’s Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources has invited households experiencing energy poverty to apply for free inverter air conditioners and financial assistance to help cover electricity bills. Under the 2025 program, the ministry issued two separate public calls targeting households classified as vulnerable electricity consumers.

Eligible low-income households can receive inverter air conditioners (ACs) with capacities up to 3.5 kW and a minimum energy class of A+, along with free installation, to enhance energy efficiency. Household eligibility is based on total net monthly income in 2024: up to US$472 (≈EUR 406) for single-person households, US$ 586 (≈EUR 504) for two-person households, US$ 698 (≈EUR 601) for three-person households, and US$812 (≈EUR 699) for households with four or more members. The total budget for this initiative is US$2.2 million (≈EUR 1.95 million).

Households whose only income source is a pension are also eligible if their monthly pension in 2024 did not exceed US$296 (≈EUR 255) for single-person households, US$374 (≈EUR 322) for two-person households, and US$ 447 (≈EUR 385) for households with three or more members. The budget allocated for this pensioner group is US$ 945000 (≈EUR 813,000).
