North Carolina Launches Home Energy Rebates to Cut Residential Costs’
United States: North Carolina has initiated the Home Efficiency Rebates (HOMES) and Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) programs, funded by the federal Inflation Reduction Act. These initiatives aim to lower the cost of energy-saving home upgrades, focusing initially on single-family, owner-occupied homes, particularly in disadvantaged and hurricane-affected areas. The rebates can significantly reduce expenses for installations such as heat pumps, electrical panels, and insulation, with potential savings of up to $16,000 per household. The programs are expected to save American households up to $1 billion annually in energy costs and support approximately 50,000 jobs in sectors like residential construction and manufacturing.
