China: Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Mitsubishi Electric Intelligent Manufacturing Technology (China) Group Co., Ltd., has acquired a stake in ADT Technology Service (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., a software developer based in Suzhou, China. The acquisition follows an existing collaboration agreement between the two companies. The investment is intended to support the provision of factory automation total solutions in China by integrating software for production planning, manufacturing management, quality control and equipment management with factory automation systems.
ADT Technology Service develops manufacturing management software based on production expertise from its earlier operations as the manufacturing division of AUO Corporation. Through this collaboration, Mitsubishi Electric plans to combine its factory automation equipment and monitoring and control software with ADT Technology Service’s software offerings to support the use, analysis and operation of production data. The move comes amid wider manufacturing trends that include rising labour costs, workforce constraints, environmental regulations and increased investment in digital and automated production systems, with China expected to see growing demand for data-driven manufacturing services.
